The Setup: The "New Guy" Problem
Starting a new sales job is terrifying. Starting a new sales job in an industry you don’t know, surrounded by a busy team focused on their own targets, is a massive challenge. The kind responsible for disappointing sales team turnover.
That’s exactly where Steve found himself in October 2025.
Steve landed a role at a major logistics company specifically, the Vehicle Services division. It’s a high-turnover environment where reps are expected to cold-call dealerships, auctions, and truck dealers all day with very little downtime. As Steve put it, there were a lot of people before me and most of them had gotten nowhere with their approach.
He had limited background in vehicle freight and logistics for that matter, and a phone that wasn’t ringing. He was staring down the barrel of a very short career. He needed a mentor, but no one had the time.
The Solution: A Digital Sales Mentor
Steve had no background in using AI Tools, but he didn’t need a PhD in Machine Learning; he needed a teammate. Someone who didn’t make him afraid to ask those questions (the good, bad and the ugly). Imagine, your first week at work, watching your teammates juggle multiple things at once and your question is: “Is this company a possible customer or competitor”. Steve turned to ChadGPT.
Initially, it was messy. Steve admits he was “using it wrong,” treating chats like disjointed text messages or poor Google searches. But ChadGPT aggregates the best models (like GPT-5 and Gemini 2.5) without the complex setup, Steve could experiment until he found his rhythm.
AI can teach you how to use AI
No one wants to look like you don’t know what you’re doing. But here is the beautiful thing about ChadGPT: It doesn’t care, and it definitely doesn’t roll its eyes at you.
You don’t need a mastery of AI or knowledge of different models to get started. You just need to treat the AI like a talented intern who is eager to please but needs direction.
If you are stuck, go “meta” and ask the AI to help you drive. Steve didn’t start with perfect, complex prompts. He started with honesty:
"I am in a new sales role, and I need some guidance on how to get the most out of AI tools to help me succeed."
Steve McKim
When the answer came back, he didn’t just read it; he iterated. He told Chad, “I don’t understand this part,” or “How do I keep this chat organized so you remember me?”
Pro Tip: If you aren’t getting the results you want, try saying this: “I want to achieve [Goal], but I’m not sure what information you need from me to do that best. Ask me 5 questions that will help you write this for me.”
Suddenly, the AI isn’t just a tool; it’s a coach. It bridges the gap between “I have no idea how this works” and “I just automated my entire morning,” without you ever having to ask a human for help.
Use an AI prompt builder as your prompt engineer
You don’t have to be a prompt engineer and Steve didn’t have time to watch 12 hours of YouTube tutorials on how to whisper to the algorithm. He had a sales to make. Although his initial instructions/questions to the AI were… let’s call them “rough” he didn’t stress it. You can just ask (most any) AI model for help with a prompt. Even better, ChadGPT has a built-in Prompt Generator.
Instead of agonizing over the perfect phrasing, Steve just typed his raw, messy thoughts into the generator. In one click, ChadGPT took his vague request and polished it into a structured, high-performance prompt that the AI models understood perfectly.
With one click, his vague “help me sell stuff” requests were polished into structured, high-performance prompts that generated killer cold-calling scripts and targeted value propositions.
Leverage the Prompt Library
(a.k.a. The Cheat Codes)
The hardest part of using AI is staring at a blinking cursor and wondering what to type. Steve didn’t have time to become a “Prompt Engineer” or watch three hours of YouTube tutorials. He needed to sell.
So, instead of guessing, Steve raided the ChadGPT Prompt Library.
The Prompt Library is a vault of pre-written, battle-tested commands. He picked the prompts he needed off the shelf to instantly run deep market research, dismantle competitor strategies, and script pitches that handle objections better than a veteran rep. Here is how he actually used ChadGPT to thrive in his role:
The Strategy:
Chad didn’t just write emails; it acted as a consultant. It analyzed Steve’s new role and told him flat-out: You need LinkedIn Sales Navigator. The thought never crossed his mind, but he was in a new world with new rules. It was a $130/month gamble for a new hire, but Chad’s reasoning models predicted the ROI. Steve listened.
The Knowledge Base:
With his team busy handling their own accounts, Steve used ChadGPT to learn the industry lingo, understanding the difference between Class 1-8 freight and how to talk to Fleet Managers without sounding like a rookie.
The Pitch:
Steve used Chad to refine his cold-calling scripts and email templates, moving away from generic “sales speak” to targeted, valuable communication.
“I faithfully listened to and utilized Chad every waking moment during my workday… It’s mind-blowing actually. I know now, I would be lost without it.”

The Results: Skipping the BS
While the other reps were pushing through their demanding workloads, Steve was closing deals.
In less than 60 days, here is what the “new guy” pulled off:
- 3 Actual Accounts: Signed and delivering orders.
- 8 Orders: Generated immediately from the first two closed accounts.
- The Whale: He secured an invitation to an RFP (Request for Proposal) for a large Enterprise, a global leader with 6,000 employees. This is a lead that seasoned reps dreams about.
- The Envy: a senior sales guy—who was always swamped with his own deals—was so “blown away” by Steve’s insights that he asked for a ChadGPT referral link.
The Takeaway
You don’t need a massive enterprise budget or a team of data scientists to win. You just need tools that respect your time and intelligence.
Steve treated ChadGPT like a partner. He spent 2-3 hours a day refining his process, and in return, he got a strategy that outperformed the “old school” way of doing things.
Steve is a team of one. And with ChadGPT, that’s a pretty dangerous team to compete against.
